The Weavers Factory gallery is now permanently closed.
As some of you may know, Julian has been fighting kidney disease for the last few years, but now urgently needs a transplant to survive. Because Nigel is Julian’s kidney donor, they both need to step back from work in 2023, and have made the tough decision to shut the Weavers Factory. But although the gallery is now closed, Joan Charnley’s unique legacy lives on. Once Julian and Nigel are back to full health they will begin digitally recording Joan’s archive at MMU Special Collections Museum, and then hopefully write the story of Joan and the Weavers Factory. There’s not enough space to thank everyone who made the Weavers Factory such a wonderful place, but if you’re reading this and recalling a lovely moment you spent with us, then you’re one of those people.
We can never thank you enough.
